Typevases: Sculptural Letterforms

The typevase project explores the form of letters as a 3-dimensional, sculptural objects. I wanted to explore the anatomy of letters beyond their traditional 2D presence and experiment with how that anatomy could take up physical space. I began by selecting both serif and sans-serif letterforms from several different typefaces and used Grasshopper and Rhino to create 3-dimensional forms from them. These were then 3D printed as vases, giving these letters a new function in physical space.
